Dietrich, Marlene (1901-1992) [Weinert, Alfons. (1931 - 2006)]. "Marlene Dietrich" - Original Painting from her Collection.

A playful original portrait of the actress and chanteuse on a gold background, with a trumpeting angel upper right adding to the overall amusingly incongruous Sienese style! Mixed media, including a sparkling glitter paint (!), on small wood panel. With the artist's address tag affixed to the verso, undated, but likely from the final years of Dietrich's touring career, in the first half of the 1970s, and apparently an artwork made in tribute to and gifted to her by an artist fan. Subsequently given by her to Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer. With integrated brass hanging loop at top, in fine condition. 6 x 8.5 inches; 15.5 x 22 cm.
