Striking lithograph portrait, titled and signed in the plate and signed and dated in pencil lower right by the artists, M. Katzaroff / 1-11-1946. In an attractive, simple wood frame measuring 12 x 13.5 inches (30.5 x 35 cm).
The Bulgarian-born Parisian painter created 36 paintings depicting the life of Ludwig van Beethoven, most of them based on the 1812 Franz Klein mask in some fashion. Katzaroff began painting portraits of Beethoven in 1931 and in 1946, he exhibited 36 of his Beethoven paintings at the Galerie de la Boétie in Paris.
