Large reprint photograph, probably ca. 1960s, of the three great violin virtuosi together, around the time of their appearances together in London as part of the Beethoven Quartet Society, ca. 1859. This was a musical society established in 1845 in London dedicated to the String Quartets of Beethoven, and where in the 1850s, these three giants performed with cellist Alfredo Piatti - Joachim and Ernst playing the violin, Wieniawski the viola. Photograph printed on heavy photo paper. 7.75 x 12.2 inches; 19.6 x 30.6 cm. Fine. Though unsigned or marked, this photograph originally belonged to the violinist Ruggiero Ricci and was found in an unrelated musical score from his library.
