Collection of 17 film scripts in lavish thematic custom fine leather bindings prepared for Robin Williams as trial examples by the Vogel Bindery, NY. For many years, the actor commissioned master binder Paul Vogel to prepare custom fine bindings for each of his films, in order to gift them to the cast and crew. A design would be proposed and refined and then often something on the order of a hundred examples would be produced, each of which Williams would then inscribe personally. These are extraordinary productions, generally with sumptuous marbled endpages, a sheet with a laid in original photograph of Williams in the given role, hand-painted, relief-pressed or even embroidered detailing.
The present collection consists of the samples sent for approval by Williams as part of the design process and then returned to the bindery, where they were retained for design and production reference. Twelve of the scripts included here have the impressed name "Robin Williams" to the front board, while the remaining examples have the ownership names of associates, including Kelly Preston, Marsha Garces Williams, David Steinman, and David Bausch, and one with the bindery name. Pages generally gilt-edged (13 in gold, 4 in silver). Very fine condition overall.
