Published in twenty volumes between 1953 and 1979, with some ancillary volumes published later, The Collected Works of C. G. Jung is at the heart of Princeton University Press's Bollingen publishing program and is a very comprehensive edition that includes almost all of Jung's works. The Collected Works brings together almost all of Jung's published writings in English translation, grouped by theme rather than chronology, and includes those written directly in English, translations of those written in German, including new translations of those that had already been translated and translations of works that had never before been translated into English, commissioned by the Bollingen Foundation from Richard Francis Carrington Hull. It is enriched by an extensive bibliography and a detailed analytical index. This massive undertaking was coordinated by William McGuire (1917-2009), first at the Bollingen offices in New York and then at the Press.
The volumes, each comprising several works, have the following titles: 1 - Psychiatric Studies; 2 - Experimental researches; 3 - The Psychogenesis of mental disease; 4- Freud and Psychoanalysis; 5 - Symbols of transformation; 6 - Psychological types; 7 - Two essays on analytical psychology; 8 - The structure and dynamics of the psyche; 9, I - The archetypes and the collective unconscious; 9, II - Aion: researches into the phenomenology of the self; 10 - Civilization in transition; 11 - Psychology and religion: West and East; 12 - Psychology and alchemy; 13 - Alchemical studies; 14 - Mysterium coniunctionis; 15 - The spirit in man, Art, and Literature; 16 - The practice of psychotherapy; 17 - The development of personality; 18 - The symbolic Life: Miscellaneous writings; 19 (20) - General bibliography of C.
