Original cut metal printer's block for production of advertising broadsides for a production of the Cincinnati Summer opera at the Cincinnati Zoological Gardens Shown in reverse, the text reading:
"She Lives to Love / The OPERA OF TORRID PASSIONS WHEREIN LOVE IS DEAR AND LIFE IS CHEAP / CARMEN / STAGED IN SPECTACULAR SPANISH SETTING /100 PEOPLE ON STAGE 100 / SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA / Ballet" with small text lower left "Seats Start at 25 cents" and "ZOO."
Bruna Castagna sang the title role of Carmen there in 1936 and 1940. The present item likely dates from one of those years. Approx. 6 x 7 inches; 15 x 18 cm. Glued to a lucite display stand. Some marks and wear commensurate with age and use, glue visible on the verso mounting, otherwise fine. Most unusual!
