[The Deviants]. Custom Tuxedo Jacket Worn by Russell Hunter.
Custom Aquascutum tuxedo jacket with notch lapel, two covered buttons at front closure, straight pockets, size 40S. The jacket features their notorious nun and popsicle artwork from their third and final album, The Deviants 3 (1969), generously applied. Includes dry cleaning tag reading "R. Hunter" from September of 2011 and is sold together with a color photograph of Hunter in the jacket, signed by him on the back and inscribed "23rd March 2012 / Borderline Club, London, Deviants Gig."

The third album, Deviants #3 was released in 1969 and features trippy, inventive and bizarre psychedelic rock/acid rock with some ripping fuzzy guitars, hypnotic vocals and a visionary approach. The gatefold cover shows a nun and a young boy curled up on the ground.  The nun is clearly a man in drag; both people are sucking on multi-colored Popsicles.

The Deviants were a British psychedelic rock band originally active from late 1966 to 1969, but later used as a vehicle for the musical work of writer Mick Farren until his death in 2013.   In the early months of 1967 Phil Mari left the band and was replaced by Russell Hunter (1946- 2023) as permanent drummer in the group. Farren has stated that The Deviants were originally a community band which "did things every now and then—it was a total assault thing with a great deal of inter-relation and interdependence". Musically, Mick Farren described that they were influenced by The Who, Charles Mingus, Velvet Underground, and Frank Zappa.
