Fine and rare portrait medallion, issued in 1859 by C. Voigt. Only 100 examples struck. Features a fine engraved bust portrait of the composer facing left, and the text: "GEORG FRIEDRICH HAENDEL. Geb. D. 24 FEBR. 1685." [Incorrect date, instead of Feb. 23]. At base of neck, signed "VOIGT," and beneath, "G.L.DIR." The verso features a lyre, adorned by laurels and a star, with the text: "ZUR HEIMAT DER TOENE. D. 13. APRIL 1759." [Incorrect date, instead of April 14]. Beneath the lyre, signed "PFFR;F:" [Pfeuffer]. 29 mm. Niggl 808. Andorfer & Epstein 117.
