Original program from a performance of Fauré's "tragédie lyrique," Prométhée, as part of the Grands Festivals Populaires de Paris on December 12, 1907, with a tremendous 600 performers and conducted by the composer. The enormous work, with spoken and musical sections, calls for three wind bands, a very large string section, twelve harps, choir, and solo singers and actors. This was its second performance, after the Paris premiere of 1900, and was presented as a benefit for flood victims in the Hérault region of France. The attractively designed cover features a striking color drawing by C. Bétout, engraved by Stern. In fine condition. 6 x 9.25 inches (15 x 23.6 cm).
