Hardcover. 8vo. 223 pp. Signed by author, the great silent movie star on front flyleaf, "To Buster Bewell/ From / Bill Hart / 1939" in black ink. Illustrated with frontispiece, in color, by James Montgomery Flagg and text illustrations, in black and white, by John Russell Fulton. Water damage staining along lower edge of boards, with slight staining on bottom of illustration pages. Dust jacket also has chips on edges and water stain on back right bottom. Else fine. 
An interesting association copy. Lester Guy "Buster" Bedwell (1903 - 1967), was himself a horse trainer, but was overshadowed by the reputation of his father, "Hard” Guy Bedwell, once the nation’s leading trainer, who in 1919 became the first trainer to saddle a Triple Crown winner, scoring with Sir Barton in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
