Remains of a book plate on front end paper; light wear to corners and spine extremities, else fine. Measures 10.25 x 8.25 inches. Good condition.

First published by Houghton Mifflin in 1903, this collection explores the American Southwest through short stories and essays, including "East of Death Valley", "Lone Pike Peak and Rocks of the Alabama Hills", and "Sheep, Owens Valley". Appendix includes a note on the land and photographs, regional place names, and sources of excerpts used with photographs.
