Original doubleweight photograph of the tenor in one of his signature roles, standing in a full length pose in costume as Canio in Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci." Boldly signed to the lower half with his name alone, above the blindstamp of an unidentified photographer. Some scattered silvering when held to light, small blemish upper right corner, else fine.  7 x 9.5 inches; 17.8 x 24.1 cm.

Caruso's recording of "Vesti la giubba" was the first record to sell one million copies and this may be the most iconic of all opera photographs.
