A very fine painted portrait, nearly life-sized, by an Anonymous artist of the 19th century and quite possibly executed during the great violinist's lifetime. Paganini is shown in a three quarter turned pose, a scroll of music in his right hand and a violin leaning against a wall just over his left shoulder. In an elaborate hand-gilted wooden framed. Framed to an overall size of 39 x 33 inches.
The portrait is evidently based at least in part, from the shoulders up, on the Anonymous 19th century portrait of the violinist in the collection of the Philharmonie de Paris, E.995.6.55.
