The Texas-born artist lived and worked in Provincetown and designed many of the event posters for Provincetown's renowned Atlantic House, one of America's oldest gay bars. He died of complications from AIDS on April 4, 1997. The Driskel gallery at The Schoolhouse arts center in Provincetown, was named for him by David Davis, local patron and collector who restored the building and who in 2007 also named the building's restored bell tower after Kevin.
