Invitation to a performance of the important American composer and pianist, penned on a card of the MacDowell Club of Boston. Text, in full: "The MacDowell Club requests the pleasure of your company Wednesday, November eighteenth at Copley Hall from four to six, to meet Mrs. H. H. A. Beach. Music at 4:15. Please present at door for admission." Beach performed at the piano in a program of her songs and her Romance for violin and piano at the Copley Hall in Boston on November 18, 1914. Original program from the first Covent Garden production of Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, dated February 2, 1961. Conducted by Georg Solti and produced by John Gielgud, the opera had a completely different cast from its premiere at the Aldeburgh festival the previous summer: Russell Oberlin replaced Alfred Deller as Oberon, while John Lanigan replaced Peter Pears as Flute. 4 pp. Light toning; overall in very fine condition. 8.5 x 12.5 inches (21.6 x 31.8 cm).

Signed sepia tone Pinchot of NY photograph of the American composer who melded the jazz idiom with classical music forms in a number of timeless orchestral and stage works, including Rhapsody in Blue and Porgy and Bess. Original 8 x 10 inch photograph of the smiling composer, boldly inscribed in black ink in the lower blank margin "For Edith Limburg - With greetings + all my best wishes, George Gershwin" and dated "Apr. 21, 1936." An excellent example in pristine condition.
