Autograph document in the hand of the important composer and conductor, showing the orchestral seating plan for his work Figures (1958–66). Undated [likely Baden-Baden, 1985.] In his tiny and precise hand, Berlioz has mapped out the seating plan for the three separate instrumental groups. Another hand has enlarged some of the words to make the plan more easily legible. An interesting and visually striking document. 1 p. on hole-punched graph paper. Signed October 11, 1971 Newsweek cover ("New Maestro, New Beat: New York Philharmonic's Pierre Boulez") from the important French composer and conductor, one of the major innovators and forces in 20th century music. In good condition with an affixed original mailing label and sold together with the collector's original letter and a reply from the NY Phil enclosing the signed magazine.  8 x 11 inches (21 x 28 cm).

Signed clipped halftone photograph of the important English conductor, together with an original 1946 concert brochure featuring a further photograph of Boult on the cover. Boult is shown together with Italian conductor Mario Corti, and has signed over the photograph and its mount. The concert brochure, advertising the Cheltenham Autumn Music Festival of November 4–7, 1946, shows Boult on the cover, "who will conduct the performance of Elgar's 'Dream of Gerontius.' " Some light toning and wear; overall fine. Photograph mounted to 4.5 x 3 inches (11.4 x 7.6 cm); brochure (4 pp.), 5.5 x 8.5 inches (13.9 x 21.6 cm).

Created by the art studio of EMI as a prototype, the box is constructed of cardboard and acetate and incorporates elements of the artwork from the album into a three-dimensional design. Right-facing head and shoulders portrait cabinet photograph of the German composer and pianist shown in semi-profile in 1894, photograph by Rudolf Krziwanek, signed by the subject at the upper blank area of the image in dark brown ink, "Johannes Brahms" adding below "Prosit Neujahr!" ("Happy New Year!"). 5.4 x 8 inches [13.5 x 22 cm]. Small chip from upper right corner, and with significant but professionally repaired (glued and filled) cracks diagonally across the photograph and through the last name section upper right, and an additional crack, repaired to verso with archival tape, in the upper left corner. Despite obvious condition faults, the photograph is in stable condition and presents remarkably well in its fine archival matting and framing under UV plexiglass in a hand-gilted wooden frame, 12 x 15 inches (30.5 x 38 cm.) overall.  Read More...

Original engraved printed visiting card of the great composer, giving his name and address "Johannes Brahms / IV. Karlsgasse 4." in printed script, inscribed with nine lines in the composers's hand.  Dated 8 May, 1889, to an unidentified recipient, the note begins on verso, translated from the German: "Thank you very much for thinking of me so kindly at the Wartburg!  I recently forgot to mention that I am going to Ischl for the summer - unfortunately your 'mountain trips' will not take you there!? - Hopefully the question mark applies."  In lieu of signing, he has underlined his name in printed script on the front of the card.  In very fine condition.  3.4 x 2.25 inches (8.6 x 2.7 cm.).
