Autograph signature of the English-born pianist and composer of Italian parentage, who studied with Moscheles, was a close friend of Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins and who is mostly remembered as the untiring honorary secretary of the Philharmonic Society for twenty seven years, where he oversaw the introduction of many new works including by Elgar and Mackenzie and on several occasions brought Tchaikovsky over to conduct his own works. "Francesco Berger / aged 98" on a small card dated July, 1932, 8 x 5.5 cm, tipped to a larger page inscribed in another hand "With compliments" and baring his London address. A rare signature.
An interesting series of original Atlantic Press of Paris photographs of the original 1954 Paris production of "Jeanne au bucher." Each 18.5 x 24 cm and all in very fine condition. The collection includes three images of Bergman in the title role, one of which she has boldly signed in blue ink.
