Typed Letter Signed

Typed letter signed from the celebrated Hungarian violinist and pedagogue, sending information about his violin course and informing the correspondent that he is not available for private lessons. Baden-Baden, March 26, 1929. Translated from the German: "Dear Fräulein, In answer to your letter of the 22nd, please find enclosed a prospectus for my course. As far as private lessons go, these are out of the question, because my limited time does not allow it. It is precisely for this purpose that I have arranged the course, in order to in some way compensate the many people who wish to have lessons with me, and who cannot have this wish fulfilled. Respectfully, Carl Flesch." 1 p. on his letterhead, boldly signed at the foot. Folding creases and light toning; overall in fine condition. 8.75 x 11.25 inches (22.4 x 29 cm).

Signed program page from the spectacular Soviet pianist. Gilels has signed boldly above a small halftone photograph and his biography. The signed page is page 6 of a Dutch concert program, ca. 1950's-1960's; the present bifolium includes pp. 5–8 and includes program notes in Dutch for Schubert's Symphony in C and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in B flat. Folding creases and some light wrinkling; overall fine. 5.25 x 9.5 inches (13.4 x 24 cm). Scarce.

A rare signed photograph from the American violinist, composer and friend of Debussy. Hartmann has inscribed the photograph postcard to "the handsome Ruth," the wife of Paul Heinecke, the U.S. director of the important music publishers Breitkopf & Härtel. Dated Berlin, January 11, 1923. Postcard with very heavy toning and wrinkling, but signature still legible; overall in good condition. 3.5 x 5.5 inches (8.8 x 13.3 cm).

Signed 1934 Photograph to the Tibbetts

Original photograph of the great violinist with pianist José Iturbi and baritone Lawrence Tibbett, signed and inscribed by both Heifetz and Iturbi to Tibbett and his wife Jane. The three are shown at their January 1934 benefit concert for "Destitute German Professionals." Heifetz has inscribed at the foot: "To Jane Tibbett - in remembrance of the concert on Jan. 12 1934 - and with all good wishes - Jascha Heifetz. New York - Jan. 24, 1934." Iturbi has inscribed at the head "Para Mr. and Mrs. Tibbett con todo cordialidad y estima - Jose Iturbi."  10 x 8 inches; 25 x 20 cm. Original program signed in pencil by the great violinist, pianist José Iturbi and baritone Lawrence Tibbett, from their January 1934 benefit concert for "Destitute German Professionals." Over the listing of program order, the three have inscribed the program in pencil to Tibbett's wife Jane, with Lawrence Tibbett himself writing: "To my Jane—the best reason in the world for singing. Signed single-sheet concert program from the great pianist, perhaps the single most prominent and influential piano pedagogue ever to teach in America. She has signed "Much love / Rosina" on a February 28, 1961 concert program of the National Orchestral Association, where she performed Chopin's Concerto no. 1. Vertical folding crease, slight chip at the lower right; overall in fine condition. 6 x 9 inches (15.4 x 23 cm).

Boldly signed halftone photograph of the great violinist, taken from a 1954 concert program. Menuhin is shown casually plucking his violin, with his bow resting across his knees, while he gazes intently to the right. Another hand has dated the page: October 31, 1954. On the verso, a color portrait and facsimile signature of Beethoven. Right edge rough, with two small edge tears, but a bold signature and otherwise in fine condition. 7.25 x 9.75 inches (18.5 x 24.5 cm).

Signed Bechert photograph of the supreme Russian violinist, noted for his fine interpretations of the unaccompanied Bach sonatas and Romantic works. He performed well into his mid-80s, won a 1975 Grammy, a Legion of Honor medal from France and a Kennedy Center Honor. One of the GREATS.  8 x 10 inches, signed and inscribed in 1944 in purple ink to a light area of the image, signed in white by the photographer lower right. Scattered surface impression and creases, small stain to left edge, inscription a shade light, else fine.
