The graphically striking yellow and black cover bears a drawing by David Stone Martin. An original advertising insert from Emerson Electric is included. An original print of the iconic 1958 photograph "A Great Day in Harlem," signed by the photographer, Art Kane. The well-known image depicts 57 of the greatest jazz musicians of the era, posing casually on East 126th Street in Harlem with a group of local children. The musicians pictured include Count Basie (sitting on the curb with the children), Roy Eldridge, Dizzy Gillespie, Coleman Hawkins, Gene Krupa, Charlie Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, Pee Wee Russell, Maxine Sullivan, and many others. Original publicity photograph of the "Thunderbolt of the West," arguably the greatest male gospel singer of all time, in his choir robes mid-song. Facsimile signature within the negative at the left: "Br. Joe May / 'King' of Gospel Singers." Some small creases and cracks to the photograph, with several tape remnants; the photograph is mounted on two layers of black paper, with two vintage family photographs and further mounting remnants on the verso. 7.75 x 9.5 inches (19.4 x 24.4 cm).

Signed photograph of the "Thunderbolt of the West," arguably the greatest male gospel singer of all time, posing in his white robes and crucifix. May has signed and inscribed the photo at the lower right to a "friend and gospel singer," dated July 25, 1967. Some small scratches and creases to the photograph; mounted on black paper, with part of a 1971 first grade yearbook mounted on the verso; overall a crisp image and signature in very good condition. 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm). Rare.

Original signed photograph from a late minstrel show, ca. 1900-1910, showing six seated men in blackface flanking a white woman onstage, signed in pencil across the upper half: "With best wishes, the Orchestra Boy from Norma Caman Minstrels." With the blindstamp of photographer C. F. Original press photograph of Ol' Blue Eyes being fingerprinted after obtaining a gun license in 1947. Original press caption printed alongside the image reads: "Look out, Girls, Frankie's packing a Roscoe. Frank Sinatra appeared at the Sheriff's Office with his Attorney, Albert Pearlson and obtained a permit to carry a gun from Lt. Ray Palmer. The crooner also placed his fingerprints in the civil files and told technician Robert Rogers he thought universal fingerprinting was a good idea." Dated January 3, 1947. 10 x 8.25 inches.

Original 1958 "Musical Menu" from the Cotton Club jazz club of Atlantic City, N.J., signed on the back page by the American singer known as "Queen of the Blues." The program is a prospectus for the club's 1958 summer season, which included appearances by Washington, Dizzy Gillespie, Gene Krupa and others. 115. [Instrumentalists] Bobesco, Lola. (1921–2003).
Rare Signed Photograph

An early signed photograph of the Belgian violinist, a child prodigy who became internationally known as a teenager and whose virtuosity and pure lyrical expression earned her a place among the top international female performers. Seiguelay, August 27, 1933. Bobesco is shown with her violin at about age 12, and has inscribed at the foot to Marie-Thérèse Chailley, the daughter of Bobesco's teacher Marcel Chailley and pianist Céliny Chailley-Richez, who would later become known a singer. Translated from the French, the inscription reads: "For my dear little sister in France, Thérèse, an affectionate souvenir and a big kiss from your 'Lolette.' " The name "Thérèse" appears to have been added in another hand. Mounting remnants on the verso; overall in fine condition. 6.5 x 9.25 inches (16.3 x 23.6 cm). Early autograph postcard from the great Catalan cellist to Paul Boquel, director of the Société des amis des Arts, regarding concert dates. Postmarked October 12, 1908. Casals writes (translated from the French): "Dear friend, I do not have a concert in Nancy on November 8. So you have the whole field free. [...] Pablo Casals. I will be in Paris during the day on October 15." In very fine condition. 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9.2 x 14.1 cm).
