Original Program of 1908 Inaugural Organ Concert

Original program for a concert on June 21, 1908, given by the celebrated organist and composer and successor to Widor at the Paris Conservatoire. The concert was given to inaugurate the newly-built Cavaillé-Coll organ at the "Manoir Denouval," the stately home of the Hershey Eddy family outside Paris, and included works by Bach, Chauvet, Couperin, Clérambault, and Franck, as well as Guilmant's own first sonata for organ. An attractive engraving of musicians and decorative vines features on the cover. In very fine condition. 6.75 x 9.5 inches (17.4 x 24 cm).

Signed halftone postcard photograph of the Polish-French harpsichordist whose performances, teaching, recordings, and writings played a large role in reviving the popularity of the harpsichord in the early 20th century. She is shown playing her double-manual Pleyel harpsichord, and has inscribed the card to the Italian composer Leone Sinigaglia "en vielle amitié" and dated Good Friday [April 14] 1922. Original Alban of Paris doubleweight photograph of the young Menuhins ca. 1931, surrounded by a group of important musical figures of the era, including violinists Nikolai Sokoloff, Jacques Thibaud, Jan Hambourg, and Sam Franko, pianists Alfred Cortot, and Marcel Ciampi (with his young son Yves Ciampi, who would later become a film director) and composer/violinist Georges Enesco. The group is shown in the garden of the Menuhins' Paris home, Ville d'Avray. With the photographer's stamp on the verso. Signed Photograph with Violin

Superb image of the supreme Russian violinist, noted for his fine interpretations of the unaccompanied Bach sonatas and Romantic works. He performed well into his mid-80s, won a 1975 Grammy, a Legion of Honor medal from France and a Kennedy Center Honor. One of the GREATS, considered by many to be in a class with Heifetz. A wonderful pose, he is shown seated, with his chin resting on his hand, his violin under his arm, bow in hand. Inscribed and signed "N. Milstein." Not dated, but probably from the 1940’s or 50’s. 8 1/4 x 10 inches and in fine condition.

Signed half-tone photograph of the legendary Soviet violinist, taken from a concert program from a February 21, 1956 performance of Sibelius' Violin Concerto with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The biography of the conductor, Nicolai Malko, appears on the verso. Oistrakh has signed boldly in red below his photograph. Signed Charavet of Lyon CDV photograph of the great virtuoso violinist, Paganini's only pupil, who introduced Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in England in 1827 at age 12 and collaborated with Liszt and composed virtuoso arrangements of many works. 9.9 x 6 cm, signed in the lower margin to the writer Sixte Delorme: "A mon Ami S. Delorme / 2 Mars 1862 / Cllo. Sivori." Very slightly trimmed and with a few scattered marks, else fine. 6 x 10 cm.

Scarce signed photograph from the leading violist of his time, a member of the London String Quartet and the NBC Symphony under Toscanini before embarking on an unprecedented successful solo career as violist. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Primrose playing his instrument, signed and inscribed in fountain pen and dated 1947. In very good condition, with slight edge wear along the top and mounting remants on verso and lower right corner.
