A touching autograph letter of encouragement to a younger fan from the important jazz saxophonist recognized as one of the most influential players of his era. Undated [November 23, 1994]. "Dear Mahlon - Playing music can be hard at times! No good gigs, no money etc. etc. But there is no joy like blowing your horn and if God has given you a gift hang in there with it as long as you can keep your self respect and dignity out here in this crazy world. I am behind you and am pulling for you and if you need to call on me please do so. Also you have a great friend in that beautiful young lady Shelby. Both of you keep on keepin'. Signed photograph of the larger-than-life stride pianist known for his standards such as "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Honeysuckle Rose." He is shown in a three-quarter-length portrait, wearing a handsome suit and holding a cigarette, and has inscribed at the lower right: "To my boy, Dr. Rush, Rush into me and brush me off. Thomas Fats Waller." In fine condition, with silvering to darker portions and a surface tear near hat area. 7.75 x 9.75 inches, quadruple-matted and framed to an overall size of 15 x 17 inches.

A rare 8 x 10 inch photograph by James Kriegsman, signed by the American singer known as "Queen of the Blues" in blue ink " "Best Wishes, Dinah Washington." Vertical crease extending down the left third of the photograph, corners lightly worn/creased, else fine.


Despite her early death, Washington is generally regarded as one of the most influential vocalists of the twentieth century.

"Russian Pianist to stay in Britain" - Original 1963 Photograph

Original press photograph of the great Russian pianist looking happy with his wife, Þórunn (Dody) Jóhannsdóttir.  Original press caption reads: "25-year-old Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Russian concert pianist, has been granted permission to remain in Britain with his wife and baby son." The Ashkenazys left the USSR after many struggles with the authorities over permission to travel and remained in England for several years before moving to Iceland in 1968. In fine condition. 20.5 x 25 cm.

Original signed doubleweight Apeda photograph of the wonderful English musician, who began as a successful violinist and later had a major career as a pianist. A student of Paderewski, he premiered Debussy's "Children's Corner" and after settling in the US, founded the Beethoven Association and taught for many years at the Manhattan School of Music. Autograph Musical Quotation

An Autograph Musical Quotation boldly penned and signed "Pablo Casals" on a card with a mounted clipped bust portrait, 14 x 9 cm. We and a number of concert cellists have been unable to identify the work quoted here and we can therefore say that is likely from an original work by the cellist himself. Very fine.


An unsual AMQS from the great Spanish composer, conductor, and cellist, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, also well known as a humanitarian.
