Autograph Musical Quotation - "Die Tote Stadt"

AMQS from the composer's operatic score based on symbolist Georges Rodenbach’s phantasmagoric novel Bruges-la-morte. Composed by Korngold when he was just 23, its tremendous success heralded him as one of German opera's most promising talents. In pencil, on an album page measuring 16.5 x 11 cm. Mounting remnants on verso with some visible buckling and discoloration and a tiny hole near the top of the paper. Signed on the verso by the great conductor and Mahler protégé Bruno Walter.

Wien: Carl Stephenson Verlag. 1922. Vierte Auflage. 130 pp. 8vo. Original blue boards, with dj supplied in facsimile. Pages toned, seven with small chips or tears in margins, front free endpage separated and title page partially separated. With signed 1928 autograph presentation ("To my old dear friend Robert...") by Korngold on the striking portrait photograph preceding the volume's half-title. The first published book on one of the last great Romantic composers.

A very uncommon early original Langhans of Prague cabinet photograph of the twenty-year-old Czech virtuoso violinist, signed and inscribed to the important Hungarian violin maker Paulus Pilat and dated Budapest 18/I. 1900. Mounting traces on verso, lower corners nicked, overall fine. The earliest signed photograph of him we've seen. 4 3/8 " ( 11 cm.) x 7 1/2 " (19 cm).

A container for sugar cubes or an ironic reference to Marcel Duchamp’s 1921 ‘Why Not Sneeze Rose Sélavy?’ Duchamp raised consumer items to pieces of art with his "assisted Readymade", a birdcage "assisted" by the addition of 152 white cubes (made of marble, but resembling sugar cubes), a mercury thermometer, a piece of cuttlebone, and a tiny porcelain dish. Derriere Le Miroir #127, Mai 1961 - INSCRIBED ON THE FRONT COVER TO LEONARD LYONS

28 pp. loose in wraps. Fourteen monochrome lithographs by Giacometti (two double page) including wraps. Essays by Olivier Larronde, Lena Leclercq, and Isaku Yanaihara. Checklist for exhibition of paintings and sculpture. Text in French. Internally clean and unmarked. Wraps toned mostly around the edges, chipped at top and heavily along spine where front and rear covers are both fully separated. Signed and inscribed in blue ink on the front lithograph by the Swiss artist to noted film and theater columnist Leonard Lyons ("The Lyons Den"): "A Leonard Lyons / trés Amicalement / Alberto Giacometti / Paris le 3 avril 1964."

Original color offset lithograph, 1988, in color, for Haring's 1989 show at the Tony Shafrazi gallery, this copy signed and inscribed in black marker, with the artist adding one of his customary figures, the head of which incorporates the second printed "8" in the year. 64 x 87 cm [25 1/8 x 34 1/4 in.] Printed on semi-rigid stock, heavily creased in a number of areas, creases split/torn at one section (lower area of green circle under "NYC"), scattered lighting foxing and stains, none affecting the signed area. Simply framed.
