Exceptional autograph musical quotation from one of the composer's most famous works, the Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Op. 56, known as the "Scottish." Large painted plaster bust portrait, ca. 1870, 17.5 x 12 inches. In good condition, some minor chipping, scratches and soiling. Marked by the producer: Eigentum der Gebr. Micheli Berlin.


The plaster cast company Micheli produced busts by C. D. Rauch, Canova, Thorvaldsen and others. The Mendelssohn bust is probably a work by the Micheli-brother and sculptor Aurelio who in 1860/70 realised some busts of musicians.

An interesting black-bordered memorial program from a performance presented at the Leipzig Conservatory, in memory of Mendelssohn who had died on this date of November 4 in 1847. The concert consisting entirely of ten works by Mendelssohn, including performances by Paul Klengel and Alexander Kummer (the Violin Concerto in E minor).

"Sonate à quatre mains" - Autograph Manuscript

Autograph manuscript of a sonata for four hands, believed to be his Opus 15, dated Frankfurt, May 1803. Cover, 24 folio pages, comprising the movements "Allegro moderato," "Adagio," and "Rondo: Allegro molto," each scored on opposite facing pages for use by the performers, entirely in Berger's hand in dark ink, including a number of cancellations and corrections. In very good condition, slight staining at upper right corner barely affecting the manuscript, edges a little rough, else fine. Read More...

Interesting autograph manuscript in the hand of the conductor/composer, written in Monteux's youth. It consists of 89 measures on 3 1/2 pages, folio, plus 1 page title, all in Monteux's fanciful younger hand. He has signed the title-page and also the opening of the work. Beautifully penned and in very fine condition.

Autograph signature from the widely travelled Austrian composer and pianist, pupil of Haydn, teacher of Franz Xaver Mozart, and influential mediator between the Classical and the Romantic periods.



On a page measuring 18 x 20 cm, Neukomm has boldly penned his signature. Beneath, a note reads: "Dear Me. Crone, The above was written expressly for you. Yours truly J. Oline. / 201 Regent Street. 23rd August 1831." In very fine condition. Rare.

The "Ivor Novello Awards" for songwriting are awarded each year by the record industry and in 2005, The Strand Theatre in London, above which Novello lived for many years, was renamed the "Novello Theatre."

A very touching remembrance of the great violinist, David Oistrakh, handwritten by the violinist and pedagogue Joseph Gingold in his characteristically large handwriting. One page, written on both sides. In part: "I join the millions of music lovers and musicians throughout the world who mourn the loss of David Oistrakh...one of the greatest violinists of this century, a splendid conductor and a marvelous teacher, he was also one of the most lovable human beings that I have ever had the privilege of knowing..." Unsigned and undated, but most likely written right after Oistrakh's death in 1974. Fine condition other than a tiny nick in upper right corner. Provenance: Gingold estate.
