Program from US Premiere of "Les Noces."

Original 1926 program from the International Composer's Guild, founded by Edgar Varese and Carlose Salzedo five years earlier. The program features the first US performance of Stravinsky's "Les Noces," and includes the full original synopsis and texts. The concert also featured the first New York performance of Alfredo Casella's "Concerto for String Quartet." The advistory committe from the Guild, listed on the cover, includes an astonishing collection of many of the leading composers and performers of the period. Some splitting at spine, "Les Noces 2/14" written in faded ink at head of cover, otherwise fine. 8 pp.

London: Musicians Benevolent Fund. 1991. A remarkable collection of portraits of celebrated musicians - singers and instrumentalists - each signed by the subject and measuring 15 x 20 cm. Each card features a print of an oval pencil portrait by Honor Earl and the set was issued in a limited signed edition of of 200 (this copy 6/200) to benefit the Musicians Benevolent Fund in its 70th Anniversary year of 1991. The signers include Janet Baker, Evelyn Barbirolli, Harry Blech, Colin Carr, Levon Chilingrian, Peter Frankl, Evelyn Glennie, Sidonie Goosens, Heather Harper, Antony Hopins, Steven Isserlis, Charles Mackerras, Jane Mannin, Yvonne Minton, Robert Lloyd, Felicity Lott, Neville Marriner, Martin Neary, Andrzej Panufnik, Gyorgy Pauk, Melvyn Tan, and Jeffrey Tate. There are 61 signed portraits in total, all housed in a folding box, inscribed by pianist Marguerite Wolff (also one of the signed portraits), "To my darling Arvid / Much love. Marguerite."

Original vintage large cabinet photograph of the great composer together with this celebrated tenor best known as the creator of Verdi's "Otello" (1887). The verso is stamped by the photographer S.H. Lifshey of Brooklyn, and though the image was not taken by him, was apparently issued in this form by him. The photograph has punched holes in all four corners, slightly chipped along the edges, but otherwise good. 16.5 x 24 cm.
