Pair of original 8 x 10 inch 1967-8 press photographs of the violinist as he "examines the power system on his fully electric automobile. Having embarked on a one-man anti-smog campaign as a result of constantly looking out over the blanket of haze covering Los Angeles from his Beverly Hills home, Mr. Heifetz is now driving the first electric passenger car on the West Coast. Named 'Smoglo,' the car is powered by 12 normal car batteries and produces absolutely none of the smog that occasionally smothers the entire Los Angeles area." A very rare original program, dated May 21st, 1951, from a performance of the [Yale] Collegium Musicum, a group devoted to the performances of late medieval, Renaissance, and baroque music under Paul Hindemith's direction during his tenure at Yale University. The present printed program for Alla battaglia, includes 3 pages of music (a canon for audience with English text) in Hindemith's hand and is illustrated on the cover with a spirited battlefield sketch by the composer himself, signed lower right "P.H." within the matrix. The first page inscribed by the composer "Schreibfehler / Partitur / Mathis," the notebook being the composer's corrections and revisions for the score of his opera "Mathis, der Maler" including extensive musical notation, changes in dynamics and expressive markings etc. on 56 pages. Most entries in the notebook identified by the composer by page of the score and line/system to which the revisions apply. A remarkable survival, a booklet once packaged with Duke's cigarettes, about the life of the great piano prodigy.
Signed original 8 x 10 inch glossy photograph, showing the great pianist at the keyboard with his gaze fixed on his hands. Uninscribed, "Compliments of Josef Hofmann / 1938." Margins lighly dinged, a touch of mild creasing at lower right, else fine.
