Glass Photographic Memorial Tray

Rare glass memorial tray, honoring the singer, known as the ‘King of Soul,’ who died tragically in a plane crash at the age of 26; a month later ‘(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay’ was posthumously released and became his only number one single. Evidently prepared shortly after his death, the black glass tray features a black and white photograph portrait of Redding with gilt detailing and the printed text "In Memoriam / Otis Redding / 1941-1967." Corners a little chipped, but overall in fine condition and quite rare. 5 x 7 inches (13 x 19 cm).

The Grammy-winning American jazz tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins is widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians.  A number of his compositions, including "St. Thomas", "Oleo", "Doxy", and "Airegin", have become jazz standards.

Signed Photograph in "Sixteen Dances for Soloist and Company of Three"

An important and early signed original Gerda Peterich photograph of the American dancer and choreographer who was at the forefront of the American avant garde for more than 50 years, shown mid-leap in an image capturing a 1951 performance of Sixteen Dances for Soloist and Company of Three, the first dance in which Cunningham made use of chance operations.  Cunningham has inscribed "To Paul, / with best wishes / Merce Cunningham" in black ink to the lower right corner.  Light wear to edges, particularly along the right side, overall in fine condition.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).  The present photograph is reproduced on page 59 of the Aperture publication Merce Cunningham: Fifty Years (David Vaughan, ed. Grouping of four signed photographs from the world of dance, including a late photograph of de Mille, two editions of the same halftone photograph of American ballet dancer Jock Soto, and a photograph of Russian prima ballerina Tani Riabouchinskaya.  The photograph of de Mille, a later image of the legendary choreographer and dancer, is inscribed "To Paul Pearson / Agnes Georges de Mille / 7.10.1990." 4.25 x 5.25 inches (10.8 x 13.3 cm.).  In fine condition.  One of the two half-tone photographs of Soto, clipped from an unidentified publication, is signed "Jock Soto / 1990," while the other reads "Best Wishes / Jock Soto."  Unevenly trimmed, else in fine condition.  Approx. 7.5 x 11 inches (19 x 27.9 cm.).  Riabouchinskaya has inscribed her photograph, "To Paul B Pearson / Very sincerely to a / Friend / Taliana Riabouchinskaya / 1983."  Unevenly trimmed, else in fine condition.  6.75 x 7.25 inches (17.1 x 18.4 cm.).

Color lithograph of the legendary Austrian ballerina performing the Shadow Dance from the ballet Ondine. Elssler is shown on pointe, observing her shadow on the ground of the lake's moonlit shore.
