Elephant Folio with color and b/w illustrations. Limited to 2000 copies, this copy boldly signed in black ink by the artist on second front free endpaper. Unpaginated (39 leaves, some printed on verso and recto, some on verso only),  including a facsimile of the original "Manifiesto Blanco" published in Spanish in Buenos Aires in 1946 in which he sets forth the parameters for his art movement, "Spatialism," together with translations of the manifesto into Italian, German, French, and English, an homage by Alain Jouffroy, poems by Michel Fougares, Raffaele Carrieri, and Leonardo Sinisgalli, a statement by Fontana, 4 small illustrations, 5 large portrait photographic illus., and 17 large plates (12 in color or tint) showing details of Fontana's work.  Some leaves loose or separated from the block. An interesting painted study of hands, including of one pointing with extended finger and another clasping a stylus, the disembodied hands all floating in the space and offerings thus a somewhat surreal effect. Oil on canvas, unsigned but evidently French school, ca. 1840. Canvas from the maker Haro Fils. In a somewhat worn but attractive period frame. Some scratches and abrasions to surface, overall very good condition. 13 x 14.5 inches; 33 x 37 Cm.

12 Cabinet Card Portraits of Great Poets

A lovely set of 12 cabinet cards with portraits of great poets of the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries, issued ca. 1870's as part of "Bruckmann's Portrait-Collection" by the publishing house of Friedrich Bruckmann. The photographic reproductions of portraits depict Lord Byron, John Dryden, Robert Burns, Oliver Goldsmith, John Milton, Thomas Moore, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Walter Scott, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Joseph Addison, Alexander Pope, and William Wordsworth, each mounted on a red-bordered cabinet card with caption. The cards have been slightly trimmed at the lower edge, and the portraits of Shelley and Wordsworth have been trimmed further; otherwise the cards are in fine condition. Each 4.5 x 6.5 inches (11.3 x 16.3 cm).
