An interesting document from the influential Italian publisher, closely associated with Giacomo Puccini in particular, but also with Ponchielli, Catalani, and Giordano among others. 4 pp. The document grants the performance rights of the Duet for Tenor and Baritone in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" to the tenor De Grassi for the Carneval season in Pesaro. Dated March 2, 1871. 4 pages, in fine condition, with a 2-page detailed listing of recent works available printed on this interior.

Scarce original cabinet photograph by E. Bieber of the great pianist, signed and inscribed in 1893. Very fine. 16.5 x 10.8 cm.



The great Polish pianist, Moriz Rosenthal, studied with Liszt for 9 years and was one of the most important pianists of the late 19th and first half of the 20th century. A regular sonata partner of Fritz Kreisler, he toured frequently and left some fantastic recordings.

Attractive period postcard photograph of the celebrated Russian ballerina and actress. The photograph by G. L. Manuel of Paris shows the great beauty in a revealing lace top, clasping her hands and looking off towards the right side. In very good condition, with one crease and edges slightly bumped. 9 x 14 cm. Even unsigned period images of Rubinstein are very hard to find!

Illustrated wrappers, 4 pp., plus "Specimen" of "Rag-Time Parade" on inner rear cover. 27 x 35 cm. Edges chipped, repaired losses along spine and repaired tear on rear cover, the illustration remaining bright and clean. The possibility has been raised that the striking cover illustration may have been executed by Satie himself. The espagnole figure, the red and the black colors, the degree of abstraction are all very much influenced by Goncharova, who was in Paris at the time and was a close friend of Satie's. Read More...
