In English, in full: "I send you thanks for the 2 admissions you favored me with for last Friday - and if you can spare me a couple, occasionally I shall be much obliged - as my Mother and some friends will be happy to go. I feel indebted for the Admission card, altho [sic] I shall not use it - for unfortunately I cannot muster up fortitude sufficient (as yet) to go into Public. I was in hopes you would have called on me yesterday after Church. Come early on Thursday evening, that you may have a good batch of Whist [whisk? whit?]. The first proofs of the Première Sonatine in E-minor, Op. 54, No. 1 and of the Deuxième Sonatine in G-Major, Op. 54, No. 2. Signed and inscribed at the head of the first page of of the first Sonatine, requesting the second set of proofs ("Deuxième epreuve S.V.P. Serge Prokofieff le 24 Mai 1932") and with extensive and substantial corrections and annotations by the composer throughout, in blue and black ink, with alterations to the music (notes and rhythms), instructions for the engraver, dynamics and other phrase and expression marks. The proofs printed on single-sided blue negative paper with white notes, each stamped "[1ère] EPREUVE CORRIGE." 15 pages; 14 pages. 4to (34 x 28 cms). Russischer Musikverlag G.m.b.H. Postcard-sized double-sided (slightly larger than 12mo) autograph letter signed in Italian to Antonio Bettolacci, postmarked Milan, March 1, 1902. The composer humorously discusses the prospects for meeting up do some "hunting" for women! In full: "Dear Barbafiera [wild beard], Have you heard from the Marzaiole (a kind of duck)? Our illustrious friend still hasn't ( ... ) on the murky horizon. Let me know o fierce one! Breather of poisons, or flesh tortured by anopheles mosquitoes - I hope / Oh God! / to come soon to inculcate you with new hunting methods - are you game? Goodbye ...
