The song cycle is Fauré's last vocal work, and indeed, one of the final works in the composer's catalog. Each of the songs depicts a different aspect of the sea and of the the emotions it evokes.

Signed sepia postcard photograph of the important and prolific French composer. A student of Saint-Saens, he was an influential organist and was teacher of Ravel, Enesco, Schmitt, Boulanger and others. Boldly signed and dated 1923 in the lower blank margin and in very fine condition. 9 x 14 cm. Fauré is scarce in signed photographs.

Ferrier, age 38 at the time, has signed and inscribed one of her most celebrated recordings to noted Canadian impressario and manager (of Glenn Gould, among others), Walter Homburger: "For Hombie, with all good wishes and thanks for looking after me so beautifully in Toronto. Boldly signed and inscribed 8 x 10 inch glossy doubleweight promotional photograph from the supreme Norwegian soprano to the celebrated American actor in the early years of his long career. Inscribed "For Vincent Price, very sincerely yours / Kirsten Flagstad / Dec 1938." In very fine condition, a highly unusual association!

A superb original 1917 signed photograph of the important string quartet. Inscribed in fountain pen ink on a photograph by Apeda of New York showing the musicians seated around a table in casual discussion: "To Mr. John E. Coughlin with kindest regards; New York, Nov. 1917. 'The Flonzaley Quartet.'" Each member of the quartet has then signed beneath the image: Adolfo Betti, Alfred Pochon, Louis Bailly, Iwan d'Archambeau. 10.75 x 13 inches. A nice item from the American choreographer and director who won an unprecedented eight Tony Awards for choreography, as well as one for direction and was nominated for an Academy Award four times, winning for his direction of Cabaret. He won a Tony Award for Pippin, the Academy Award for Cabaret and an Emmy Award for Liza with a Z and was the first person to win these three awards in the same year. Glossy 8 x 10 inch photo of Fosse in partial profile, signed in black felt tip ink "For Shirley, Bob Fosse." Lightly creased at upper left corner, else fine.

3.5 x 5.5 inches, a few scattered ink marks, but overall in very fine condition. A prime example.

Uncommon vintage 8 x 10 glossy photograph of Holiday, boldly signed in white ink "Best always for Andy, Billy Holiday." Revered as one of the greatest and most individual vocalists in the history of blues and jazz, she died from cirrhosis of the liver at the age of 44. Signed photographs of her are very scarce. This example is in very fine condition with a large, bold and great contrast signature and is the finest signed photograph of her we have seen in recent years.
