Single-sheet concert program from a December 5, 1891 performance of the great Spanish violinist at The Dome in Brighton, England. The concert marked the centenary of Mozart's death, with the program including his Symphony no. 40 and Eine Klaine [sic] Nacht Musik. Sarasate performed the first movement of Beethoven's Violin Concerto op. 61, as well as a suite by Raff and his own Fantasia on Carmen. Laid down on an album leaf, with a further 1891 program laid down on the verso, from an interesting concert which included performances by Liza Lehmann, Wilma Neruda, Bernhard Stavenhagen and others. Toning, folding creases, and soiling; overall good. 6 x 9 inches (15.7 x 22.7 cm).

Musical Cigarette

An original "musical cigarette," dating from before 1952. Packet approx. 4.5 x 2.5 inches, cigarette imprinted “Made in Occupied Japan,” printed card stock tube approx. 2.75 inches (a trifle flattened). Cigarette has not been tested for musicality — there appears to be a cardboard reed that likely made a kazoo-like noise as the prankster blew through the tube to put out the match.
