An original Theatre Royal Dublin concert broadside, featuring an incredible lineup of singers including both Ernesta and Giulia Grisi and Antonio Tamburini, under the baton of Julius Benedict. The broadside advertises a set of three performances which boggle the mind! On Thursday, a performance of Rossini's "Semiramide," was to be followed by a concert of selections from other works by Rossini, Meyerbeer, Rode, Benedict, Gnecco and Donizetti! On Friday, the audience would be offered not only "Anna Bolena," but also "Il Barbiere di Siviglia." A very fine and uncommon original manuscript from the French composer of Polish birth who was also a celebrated concert pianist. "Elegy," scored for 2 violin parts, 2 viola parts, and 2 cello parts. Complete in 23 measures on three large systems, inscribed at the head: "To my very dear friends the Brodesky ensemble...with my very deep affection and gratitude from Alexander Tansman. Brussels, Jan. 1947." Beneath the final system at the foot of the page, the composer has written: "I hope it doesn't sound too badly! It was written between two rehearsals!"
