Action photograph of the popular choral conductor with his baton raised, signed humorously over his white shirt front: "Please move to higher ground!"  Glossy black and white image in very fine condition, 26 x 20.5 cm.
  
As leader of the Robert Shaw Chorale, Shaw commissioned important works from Bartok, Milhaud, Britten, Barber, Copland and others.  Shaw was also known for his work with the Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and received 14 Grammy awards, four ASCAP awards for service to contemporary music, the first Guggenheim Fellowship ever awarded to a conductor, and in 1991, Kennedy Center Honors.
