Group of Documents Owned by Adolph Green Relating to Leonard Bernstein

An interesting group of documents all relating to conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein.  Including: 
Two copies of "A Salute to Leonard Bernstein," handbill dated 1975. Paperback. 12mo.  26 pp. Phyliss Newman and Adolph Green are both featured on the program alongside the likes of Betty Comden and Larry Kert. Slight yellowing, overall good condition. 

Two complete catalogues of Leonard Bernstein's works, one dated 1978, honoring Bernstein's 60th birthday, the other dated 1988, honoring his 70th birthday. A business card inscribed "with the compliments of" Jack Gottlieb, the catalogue compiler, is nestled within the paste down end paper and free end paper of the 1978 edition. Paperback. 8to.  68 pp. 1978 edition, 95 pp. 1988 edition. Sun fading on the spine of 1988 edition, overall good condition for both.

Amberson Productions card of Jack Gottlieb, inscribed by him in blue pen "with the compliments of" above his printed name. Jack Gottlieb (1930 - 2011) was an important composer, teacher and long time associate of Leonard Bernstein. Although he is primarily remembered as Leonard Bernstein’s ‘right hand man’ he was an important teacher and composer in his own right, particularly of music for the synagogue. Bernstein described Gottlieb as "one of the most important talents on the American musical scene.” In 1977 he joined Amberson, Inc. as publications director, where he edited and brought together in book form Bernstein's best-selling television lectures, The Joy of Music, and The Infinite Variety of Music. He also compiled the included comprehensive catalogues of Bernstein's compositions, music writings, recordings and television features, known as the Red Book

Provenance: From the Estate of Adolph Green and Phyllis Newman.Adolph Green, the playwright, performer and lyricist who in a six-decade collaboration with Betty Comden, was co-author of such hit Broadway musicals as "On the Town" and "Bells Are Ringing," and the screenplays for "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Band Wagon."  (21922)
