Saint Laurent, Yves. (1936–2008)

"Yves Saint Laurent par Yves Saint Laurent. Préface de Bernard-Henri Lévy." Inscribed WITH AN ORIGINAL DRAWING ON NEW YEAR'S EVE

Paris: Musee des arts de la mode. 1986. First Edition. Hardcover, grey cloth. 221 pp. Half title inscribed and signed on New Year's Eve with a striking original drawing in the hand of the French fashion designer regarded as one of the greatest names in fashion history. The drawing in pencil, inscribed in ink to a former YSL model and friend Kris Lovimaskaia, "Pour Kriss / Son Ami / Yves / Paris / Le 31 Decembre, 1986."  DJ with tears around the edges, repaired with tape and partly affixed to boards along lower edges, else fine throughout.

The drawing is from the year after Caroline Rennolds Milbank wrote, "The most consistently celebrated and influential designer of the past twenty-five years, Yves Saint Laurent can be credited with both spurring the couture's rise from its sixties ashes and with finally rendering ready-to-wear reputable."
